Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, such as when you create an account, use our Chrome extension, or contact us for support. This can include your name, email address, LinkedIn profile data you choose to share, the relevant LinkedIn post text, words or instructions you provide for a suggestion, and content generated through our service.

We also automatically collect certain information when you use our services, including log data, device information, IP address, browser type, and usage patterns to improve our product experience.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to provide, maintain, and improve our services — including generating AI-powered LinkedIn comment suggestions tailored to your voice and style. We may also use your information to send you technical notices, updates, and support messages, respond to your comments and questions, and monitor and analyze usage trends.

How Comment Suggestions Are Processed

To generate a suggestion, the Chrome extension sends the relevant LinkedIn post context and any opening words, tone choice, or special instruction you provide to Commenty’s service. Commenty does not receive your LinkedIn password, take control of your LinkedIn session, or post on your behalf. You review and publish the final comment yourself.

This suggestion process is separate from optional voice learning. Turning voice learning off stops Commenty from collecting the final comments you post for that purpose; it does not prevent the context needed for a requested suggestion from being sent to the service.

Voice Personalisation (Optional)

If you turn on voice personalisation, Commenty stores the text of comments and replies you post on LinkedIn while using our extension. When Commenty supplied a continuation, we also retain that generated wording so we can compare it with the final text and calculate your human contribution. The calculation measures how much of the final wording was started, added, or rewritten by you. It is not an AI detector and does not measure effort or originality.

We use comments written without a Commenty suggestion and higher-human-contribution comments to build a living profile of your vocabulary, rhythm, phrasing, and reply style. That profile becomes style context for future suggestions and is refreshed as your collection of writing grows. This feature is off by default and collects no final posted comments until you explicitly opt in.

During your first week, you may also choose to import comments from your own LinkedIn activity page. This import is user-initiated, uses the same voice-personalisation permission, and adds your previous comments to the voice profile. You can turn voice personalisation off anytime; when you do, we stop collecting new comments and you can request deletion of what was stored. If you delete your account, this data is deleted with it. We retain this data only while your account is active and voice personalisation stays enabled.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information with trusted service providers who assist us in operating our website and services, subject to confidentiality agreements. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of Commenty and its users.

Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us. Upon account deletion, we will remove your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. Comment text collected under voice personalisation is subject to the shorter retention described in that section.

Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. This includes encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular security audits. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information at any time. You may also object to processing, request portability of your data, or withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise these rights, please contact us at contact@commenty.ai.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or through a prominent notice on our website. Your continued use of our services after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
